There are few dishes more iconic to America than the hamburger. Everyone has their favorite national chain with regional roots or ways to enjoy burgers—packed with sauce, double, lettuce-wrapped or something else.
Add in fries and a soda or a milkshake and that is one delicious meal! To pay homage to the hamburger, May is National Hamburger Month. But, for the purposes of this article, we are taking things one step further and giving you some burger recipes. Check out 10+ ideas below and grab condiments and plenty of paper napkins!
Made on the grill or stove top, these hamburgers are easy to make. Cook until light brown and drain the excess fat. Top with ketchup, mustard, onions and relish.
Zuni’s Café, located in San Francisco, is known for its grass-fed beef burgers. Served on a toasted rosemary focaccia slice, aioli and handmade pickles round out the dish. We urge you to take similar inspiration here for a delicious dish. Add in chips and pickles and that is a dish that is just as good as what one could find in a restaurant.
Part hamburger, part breakfast sandwich, ground beef is combined with English muffins, eggs and cocktail onions in this mashup. Serve with ketchup, mustard and relish. This is great for brunch, too.
Melted cheese, avocado, lettuce and garlic elevate these burgers and give them a California twist. Consider serving them with large pieces of romaine and enjoy with French fries, chips, or in true West Coast style, plenty of veggies.
For a slightly healthier burger than hamburgers, try turkey burgers! Bread crumbs, diced onion, egg whites, chopped parsley, salt and a clove of garlic make these flavorful and juicy. Patties can be frozen and cooked as desired, too. Pretty good!
Smashed burgers have been all the rage in the late 2010s. Ground chicken, Dijon mustard, olive oil, red pepper flakes and more make the patties, which are taken up a notch thanks to cheddar and parsley. Yes, these are not the cleanest burgers to eat, but they are tasty and flavorful!
Juicy and salty, these burgers are made with ground pork. Siracha, olive oil, ketchup and egg make them a must-try for those who like their burgers on the spicier side. Serve on buttery brioche rolls.
From the soft bun to the juicy meat that has been perfectly seasoned to the cheese, onions and savory secret sauce, this burger is a classic and kid-friendly. Make sure you have plenty of wipes and paper napkins when you serve these—it might be better to enjoy them with a knife and fork, too!
Looking for a different type of burger recipe? Ground duck, soy sauce, maple syrup, sea salt and plenty of pickles will give eaters a savory-sweet blend of flavors. Serve with an Asian slaw on bao or sesame seed buns.
These hearty, grill-worthy burgers have a meaty texture. Tamari, balsamic vinegar and mirin help bring out the savory flavors. Spices add flavor and flax seed, bread crumbs and rice act as binders. While this may sound like a hodgepodge of ingredients, these burgers are worth a try. Who knows? You may think they are better than store bought.
If you like the Beet Burgers you can get from the store, but not the additives, try making them yourself! Top with a creamy sauce and serve on egg-free rolls. Good for the planet, and your stomach!
