Dark Chocolate Love….Check Out These Decadent Desserts

1. Decadent dark chocolate brownies

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 13×9 inch pan and set it aside. In a three-quart saucepan, melt butter and dark chocolate chips. Remove from the heat and allow the mixture to cool. Add eggs and vanilla and whisk till smooth. In a separate bowl, combine dry ingredients and gradually whisk into liquid mixture till batter is smooth and thick. Pour mixture into greased pan and bake for 25-35 minutes. Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a particularly sweet treat.

2. Salted dark chocolate tart

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups almond flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup melted coconut oil
  • 3 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1 1/2 cups coconut milk
  • 1 pound dark chocolate, roughly chopped
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp fine sea salt

Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Stir together almond flour, cocoa powder, coconut oil, maple syrup, and 1/2 tsp sea salt in a bowl till well combined. Press the mixture evenly into a 9-inch pie pan and bake for 12 minutes. Remove from the oven and set aside to cool.

Heat coconut milk till it is almost simmering; remove from heat and pour over dark chocolate pieces, stir to melt mixture. Stir in vanilla and 1/4 tsp sea salt till combined. We know those powdery packets at the store just won’t do, and once you sip and savor a French hot chocolate, you’ll never go back to your childhood rendition of the creamy drink.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tsp powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp espresso powder
  • 8 ounces good dark chocolate
  • real whipping cream
  • cocoa powder for garnish

Directions:
In a medium saucepan, whisk together whole milk, cream, powdered sugar and espresso powder until bubbles appear around the edges. Do not allow the mixture to come to a boil.
Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in dark chocolate pieces until they are completely melted. Serve warm with as much whipped cream as your heart desires.

4. Salted dark chocolate cupcakes

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup softened unsalted butter
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup lukewarm coffee
  • chocolate ganache frosting
  • coarse sea salt
  • 18 ounces chopped dark chocoalte
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream

Directions:
Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, beating well, then add vanilla. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa, salt, and baking soda. In a third bowl, whisk together buttermilk and coffee till well combined. Add dry ingredients and coffee mixture to batter, alternating until all ingredients are mixed together. Pour mixture into paper-lined baking cups and bake at 375 for 15-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of each cake comes out clean. Remove from oven and allow to cool before frosting.

Frosting:
Place chopped chocolate in a heat-proof bowl. In a small saucepan, heat heavy cream until it is heated through; do not allow the cream to come to a boil. Remove from heat and pour over chocolate, stirring till all pieces are melted. Set aside and allow to cool to room temperature before frosting cupcakes, about 1-2 hours. The mixture will continue to thicken as it cools.

5. Decadent dark chocolate ice cream

Who’s not enticed by the thought of wonderful rich ice cream? Add in the element of dark chocolate to the mix, and you have a delicious treat that you can enjoy any time of day or night. Stuff your favorite waffle or sugar cone with this creamy concoction, and your loved ones will sing your praises at dessert time.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 3 Tbsp unsweetened dark chocolate cocoa powder
  • 5 ounces chopped dark chocolate
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • pinch of salt
  • 5 large egg yolks
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Directions:
In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of the cream and cocoa powder, whisking till combined. Bring the mixture to a boil, whisking constantly for 30 seconds once the mixture reaches a boiling point. Remove from heat and add chocolate pieces, stirring till melted. Stir in the remaining cup of cream, then pour the mixture into a large bowl, setting a mesh strainer on top of the bowl. To make the custard mixture, add milk, sugar, and salt to the saucepan and heat till warm. Whisk egg yolks together and slowly whisk 1/2 cup of warm milk into the egg mixture, then return the egg mixture to the saucepan, whisking and stirring constantly over medium heat till the mixture thickens and coats the back of a spatula. Pour custard through a strainer into the chocolate mixture, then stir in vanilla. Freeze and churn your ice cream mixture in an ice cream maker according to the manufacturer’s directions, and prep those cones to receive the chocolatey goodness.
