Easter 2022 is coming up on April 17. In a religious context, it celebrates the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, a sort of rebirth after a period of suffering. In another context, it is simply marked by others in a joyous springtime context, through egg hunts, all things bunny, chick and lamb related, having a big meal and eating all the candy! No matter how you choose to celebrate, Easter is an ideal holiday to celebrate with kids since it celebrates birth and fresh starts. If you love to cook, or are in charge of gathering recipes for the meal, look no further: find 10+ Easter recipes to make with kids here!

Recipe #1: Chocolate Cornflake Clusters

These no-bake cookie clusters are crunchy, crumbly and can free up the oven for other things. Melt chocolate chips and peanut butter together. Then, kids can help stir in corn flake cereal and the smallest pinch of salt (pre-measure this so too much does not accidentally make its way in!). Stir until the corn flakes are covered evenly with chocolate. For easy prep, scoop the chocolate and corn flake mixture into pastel-colored muffin cups before topping things off with candy coated chocolate or chocolate eggs.

Recipe #2: Bird Nests

Kids or grandkids will love making these edible bird nests. Simply melt white chocolate or baking chips in a saucepan. Coat with pretzel sticks or Chow Mein noodles. Drop roughly 24 spoonfuls of the mixture on a wax-paper lined baking sheet. Shape them into a nest-like shape by using forks. Dip marshmallow shaped chicks in chocolate and stick them in the nests. Or, place chocolate eggs in them and let them stand until they have set.

Recipe #3: Easter Egg Hunt Cake

Anyone who has young kids knows that they like all things sweet. Make something they will love this Easter by placing some green sprinkles over a frosted cake. Let the kids pick out their favorite types of candy (jelly beans work well) to put on top. If the concept is just too sweet for the older people in the family, consider adapting this concept to cupcakes and making a half batch to satisfy the young ones, while you make regular ones for yourself.

Recipe #4: Marshmallow Skewer Pops

These marshmallow skewer pops are simple to make and pretty mess-free, score! Kids can measure out the chocolate chips and shortening while you microwave it. Place three marshmallows on a marshmallow stick. Kids can dip the marshmallows in the chocolate mixture before rolling it in sprinkles or the melted candy coating colors of their choice. It is a hit with them on taste and parents on the effort involved, as well as the minimal clean up.

Recipe #5: Easy Easter Bunny Treats

Rice cereal treats are delicious, and this version makes them festive enough for Easter. Form a traditional treat mix of butter, marshmallow and rice cereal before dying it green. Spread it evenly over a pan and cut into squares. On each, place marshmallow bunnies and chocolate eggs. Let set before serving. Leftovers make for a whimsical lunchbox treat.

Recipe #6: Raspberry Coconut Balls

A crunchier version of the snack cake that is pink and coated in coconut, these balls use vanilla wafers, shredded coconut, sweetened condensed milk, raspberry extract, rum extract (optional) and fine pink sugar. Kids can help roll the crushed cookie mixture into one-once balls and roll everything in coconut. These are best served chilled and refrigerated, and are a hit at bake sales and Easter celebrations alike.

Recipe #7: Bunny Ear Cookies with Strawberry Milk

Make sugar cookies that look like rabbit ears. Cool and decorate. Grab some washable markers and draw a bunny face on a plastic cup. Whip up some strawberry milk by putting strawberry syrup or flavoring into the cup. Place the ears on top and serve it to a young strawberry milk fan. For extra fun, let them design the other side of the cup!

Recipe #8: Fluffy Bunny Pancakes

Savory pancakes are an Easter breakfast the kids will want to wake up to—or help make! Flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, milk and butter make the batter. Make sure not to overmix! Shape the pancakes as needed to form the bunny’s body. Then, when bubbles form on the surface of the batter, flip them over. Older kids may be able to do this themselves. All ages will love using bananas, chocolate chips and whipped cream to decorate the bunny. Top with more chocolate chips, berries or syrup and enjoy!

Recipe #9: Easter Egg Oreo Truffles

With a food processor, crush Oreos or other chocolate sandwich cookies. Stir in cream cheese until combined. Use a cookie scoop to grab the truffle filling and form it into an egg shape using your hands. Melt chocolate chips and coconut oil. Dip the eggs into the chocolate mixture before sticking them in the fridge to harden for about 20 minutes. While that happens, make a few colors of royal icing. Grab the truffles, frost using whimsical designs and dig in once the icing has hardened.

Recipe #10: Orange Sugar Cookies

Perfect for special occasions, these cookies are pretty but easy to make. Just make sure to account for the time needed to chill the dough. The secret to this flavorful dough comes from including both orange zest and orange juice in the mixture. Kids will love rolling out the dough, cutting out shapes and possibly icing them. All the topping needs is confectioners’ sugar, orange food coloring and milk. For an extra special finish, pipe the icing exactly in the middle of the cookie for a neater appearance.

Recipe #11: Bunny Donuts

What do you get when you combined white glazed donuts, a cream cheese cookie mixture, edible sugar glitter or sprinkles and marshmallows? Bunny Donuts! Use chocolate chips or edible markers to draw faces on the bunnies to make them look extra cute. Young bakers can form the cookie balls or decorate the faces. Once you are done, capture the moment and then savor the sweet treats, with tall glasses of milk, of course!

Recipe #12: Peeps Sunflower Cake

Kids love mixing cake batter, and they should be especially keen to decorate this cake, which is decorated to look like a sunflower. Place yellow marshmallow chicks or bunnies around the edge, and then pour chocolate chips in the middle to look like a sunflower. The end result tastes a bit like a chocolate marshmallow cake, but looks a whole lot more fun than a regular version.

Have a wonderful Easter. We hope you enjoy making these with the kids in your life!
